The processes affecting the olive tree are substantially of two types. The plant need a pruning every year that begins immediately after harvest. The olive pruning is an operation necessary for the maintenance of a great production. In July we have to remove the "succhioni" (woody branch non-productive). A specific machine minces grass at the base of trunks and the branches fallen after pruning at least twice for year.
The olive tree can alive with only the nutrients of the soil. However if fertilized is able to ensure better quality and quantity. We use organic fertilization which is realized on
the occasion of pruning. The leafs and the branches are chopped and spread under the trees. To speed up the decomposition are left under a layer of soil. Sometimes this technique of fertilization is integrated with traditional manure.
